Melissa Makwarimba is an Associate with Sustainable Finance Ltd and has over 15 years experience advising and building the capacity of public and private sector organisations in developing economies to integrate sustainable development principles into core business strategy and management activity. She gained the majority of her work experience in Africa during work associated with the infrastructure, extractive and industrial sectors.  More recently her work also included advising financial institutions on the broader sustainability risks and opportunities associated with their services and how to manage them.  For the last 5 years she has provided advisory, on the job training and mentoring services to management staff in three operational regions (Africa, Middle East and South Asia) of a global financial institution. 

Melissa’s key strengths lie in an ability to analyse a situation and facilitate a process of change within an organisation, supported by excellent communication, presentation and pedagogical skills.

She graduated in 1991 from Oxford University with a BA Hons in Pure & Applied Biology and completed her MBA in 2001.
