André Abadie is a Director of Sustainable Finance Limited, and was formerly Head of Sustainable Business Advisory within ABN AMRO Bank's risk management division in Amsterdam. His role with ABN AMRO involved the development and implementation of bank-wide environmental and social risk policies for oil and gas, metals and mining, defence, gambling, human rights, and country social and ethical risk. André developed a client assessment tool to score bank's extractive industries clients on their environmental, social and ethical performance, which is now a mandatory part of extractive industries client acceptance process within ABN AMRO. During the development of the oil and gas and mining and metals policies, André proactively engaged in constructive dialogue with clients and NGOs to ensure balanced, pragmatic, business-enabling approaches. André oversaw risk advisory relating to lending and non-lending transactions in all industry sectors, including identifying and effectively managing high profile sustainability risk issues on landmark oil and gas transactions, ensuring successfully syndication and client satisfaction. André co-authored the Equator Principles, with ABN AMRO being the first bank to develop training modules and begin use of the Equator Principles Toolkit for project finance professionals. Both the training module and the Toolkit are now widely used by other Equator banks. Prior to heading the Sustainable Business Advisory team, André was Head of Structured Products with ABN AMRO in South Africa, where he was responsible for the bank's project and infrastructure finance activities. André holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration, a Masters Degree in Corporate Law, and an Advanced Diploma in Sustainability. <back> |
